This elderly married couple live next door to the Twits. Mr and Mrs Basket are old. Their ages total 146. They are very fond of young Nicholas. They are retired and often home and as there are few kids in the area, Nicholas often pops next door to his “old” friends.

Mrs Basket is a wonderful cook and Mr Basket is keen to learn new things, especially computer stuff.

Mrs Basket often bakes cakes. Here’s her recipe for a simple chocolate cake.

• 2 cups self-raising flour
• 1 cup brown sugar
• ½ cup chocolate powder

Mix all these in a bowl then add

• two beaten eggs
• 1 cup milk
• dash of cooking oil
• pinch of salt
• small amount of vanilla flavouring

1. Heat oven to medium
2. Mix the mixture well
3. Grease oven-proof dish with margarine
4. Place mixture in dish and cook till ready

No icing needed, just a dollop of cream with your cappuccino.
